Thus the origin of the modern idea of a purely spiritual and subjective Heaven is the materialistic view of the world. This materialistic view of the world is often mistakenly believed to be a scientific necessity.13 It is true that a brain chemist cannot worry about the soul in his chemistry, nor an astronomer about God in his astronomy. But the mistake is to forget that all science is selective, like photography. It always abstracts a part or aspect from a more complete, complex, concrete whole.
